Beading Resources

These are Beading Shops I have personally visited and found very helpful.

THE  BEADING  FRENZY

1001  So. El Camino Real at 10th Avenue

San Mateo, California   94401

Phone:  650-347-2323

Email:  inquire@thebeadingfrenzy.com

*** An incredible Shop with tremendous selection of beads, findings, supplies and fabulous classes on a regular basis.  Definitely worth a long visit if you are in the area (San Francisco- March 2010).  I was fortunate to meet the owner, Susan, and she is an expert and helped me out with some techniques I needed to learn…. besides being able to buy some Murano Lime Glass and Swarovski Crystal square beads.  I went to drop in for a quick look and spent three hours.  I’m going to be a regular fan when we go and visit Dad just around the corner from The Beading Frenzy, lucky me!

BEAD EMPORIUM OF CAPE COD

Hyannis, Massachusetts    02601

***While visit Cape Cod recently (May 2010)  and ever on the look out for bead stores, we came across this great shop in the small town of Hyannis – home of the Kennedys.  Hyannis is a fun touristy place with history and beautiful beaches.   We made it down the whole length of the Cape to Provincetown but ran out of time to hunt for more bead shops….. next time.  Provincetown is an ecclectic fun artistic spot we can’t wait to get back to!  …. There have to be great bead supplies of some sort of other there…..

The Cape Bead Emporium has a great selection of bead supplies (beads, findings, tools and even an area with resource books to buy, as well as jewellery made by the owner). The Vintage Corner is stocked with rare and exceptional beads dating from the 1920s to 1960s. I enjoyed chatting with the owner Jorene and she was  very happy and helpful!    Great to spend time ‘hunting for treasures’ here!

MORRISON  GLASS

599 Main Street

Hyannis, Massachusetts  02601

Phone:  508-771-1775

***Blown Glass……Another great stop we made in Hyannis, custom designed glass necklace pendants, and just some incredible glass creations to enjoy or take home.  Brookes Morrison is clearly a gifted artist and I walked away with a beautiful  hand designed pendant with gecko.  Glass blowing demonstrations are sometimes happening but the amazing glass art is enough to keep you captivated…. as you speculate on the intricate detail and magical transformation from sand to one of a kind glass blown art…. how do they do it???!!!

COUNTRY  BEADS

2015  West 4th Avenue

Vancouver,  British Columbia, Canada, V6J 1N3

Phone:  604-730-8056

http://www.countrybeads.com

info@countrybeads.com

*** Check out their website or if in Vancouver go into the shop.  Small but jam packed full of goodies of all kinds, also offer classes and you can access them online.  Our ‘Old Hood’  in Vancouver …. Kitsilano, and a fabulous place to hang out eating, walking, shopping and just taking in the ocean and mountain views down every street.  When the sun is out…. it’s paradise!

House  of  INDIGO

Boutique & Bead Store

#6 Church Street

Nanaimo,  British Columbia,  Canada.

Phone:  250-754-1022

*** In Nanaimo, our new home base on Vancouver Island (2009), is not a haven for beading resources but Willow at Indigo has some beads and supplies.  She is always willing to help me out with my inquiries.  Willow creates her own jewellery pieces which she sells in her boutique and they are lovely.  Also a gifted photographer and offers photographs and vintage clothing pieces.  A unique combination!
